What is a Face Lift?

A face lift is performed to help restore a more youthful contour to the face. Also known as rhytidectomy, face lifts are common among those who want to improve signs of aging in the face, including deep creases below the lower eyelids and between the nose and mouth, as well as jowls and a hanging neck.

The goal of a face lift is to rejuvenate, not remake the face, and here at Dr. Soler-Baillo Plastic Surgery, we have perfected the art of subtle, natural-looking face lifts. To see face lift before and after pictures, to discuss face lift prices or simply to have all your questions answered by your surgeon himself, set up your complimentary consultation today.

How is a Face Lift Performed?

Face lifts begin with a small incision around the ear and sometimes into the hairline. The sagging skin of the cheek and neck is elevated, the underling muscle will be tightened, and the excess skin is then trimmed to fit the new contour. The procedure is performed using general anesthesia, and generally takes between two and five hours, depending on the patient.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Face Lift?

The best face lift candidates are those who have good skin tone and elasticity, and are generally 50 years or older. If you’re unhappy with any of the following, you may benefit from this procedure:

  • Deep creases below the lower lids or between the nose and the corner of the mouth

  • Hanging neck or loose skin below the jaw

  • Jowls (loss of muscle tone in the lower portion of the face)

  • Sagging facial skin

While most patients that we see from the Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area are 50 years or older, we do treat some younger patients who want to combat signs of premature aging. Please contact our office to set up your complimentary consultation, where you can discuss your concerns with the doctor.

What Kind of Post-Operative Face Lift Care Can I Expect?

Some of our patients report tightness of the skin and mild discomfort following the face lift procedure, which can be eased with medicine that your doctor will prescribe. While most of the swelling will go down after a couple of days, facial puffiness may last up to two weeks.

Your doctor will advise you to sleep upright in bed and apply cold compresses to reduce the swelling during the initial post-op period. In addition, you should avoid any strenuous activity for about six weeks.

What are the Typical Results of a Face Lift?

Patients can expect a tighter, smoother and more rejuvenated appearance following the face lift procedure. Your deep wrinkles and sagging skin will be long gone, and your face will have a refreshed, youthful glow. It’s important to remember, however, that although this procedure can take years off your face, it does not stop the aging process. You may need to consider another procedure in about 10 years time.

What are Miami Face Lift Costs?

There is no definitive face lift cost, as each patient has different cosmetic goals. Your surgeon will discuss face lift prices in detail during your one-on-one consultation, and he will also be sure to answer any questions you may have about the procedure.

Here at Dr. Soler-Baillo Plastic Surgery, we strive to give patients the most natural outcome possible. Call us today to schedule your appointment.
